License Plate Video Recording Policy Summary

Overview
The Escondido Meditation Center (EMC) uses video cameras to capture vehicle license plate information without compromising individual privacy.

Policies
What’s detected?
• Vehicles and license plates

What’s not detected?
• Facial recognition, people, gender, race.

Acceptable Use Policy:
• Data collected is used for safety/security and law enforcement purposes only and never sold to 3rd parties.
Prohibited Uses:
• Immigration enforcement, Traffic enforcement, harassment or intimidation, usage based solely on a protected class (i.e. race, sex, religion), or personal use.
Access Policy:
• Access to the system requires a valid reason and data is stored for 30 days.
• Members will be notified of any data breaches.
Training
• Training in the use of the system is authorized and overseen by the Council.

Usage- Data Retention:
• Unless requested by Law Enforcement, all ALPR daily recordings are retained for 30 days.
